Holidays

Winter at the Davis household was full of excitement this year.  We had a lovely Thanksgiving with Uncle Keith, Aunt Cathy, Lizzie & Jonathan.  We had a great meal and watched football (well, mostly the kids playing).

December was a month filled with fun activities for the boys.  We watched scuba Santa at the aquarium.  Nothing like seeing a reindeer trying not to be eaten by a shark.  We went to a play of Frosty the Snowman in Ft. Worth.  The boys sat through most of the show without too much squirming.  Our neighborhood had a Christmas dinner with Santa Claus and tons of children running loose.  Needless, to say we did not stay long.  Carl had a fair amount of time off from work so we got to relax and got nothing on our 'to do list' done.  Ha!

We walked through Highland Park, a fancy neighborhood in Dallas, to see at the mansions lit up beautifully for the holidays.  Curren would say his favorite part was seeing the horse drawn carriages. We had hors d'oeuvres at our friends Stephen and Doro's home before setting off for a few miles.  Doro was a trooper since she was wearing a boot from an earlier sprained ankle.

Christmas Day was full of fun and good food.  We (Curren) opened gifts throughout the day and checked to see if the reindeer ate the magic food we left outside.  The boys enjoyed each gift they received and will have many years to break them in.  Thanks to everyone who kept them in mind this holiday.  Bennett did a great job for his first gift opening experience. Curren showed him how to slowly open the gifts in the morning and as the day progressed it turned into tearing them open quickly.  Curren's new friends from across the street came over to exchange gifts with him and played a bit.  Stephen and Doro spent the afternoon with us and spoiled all of us with lovely gifts.  We made a huge meal and went for a walk to the park to kick the ball around.  We ended the day by watching Christmas movies and relaxing with port and plum pudding.

In January Curren got his first bike.  He rides it everyday in the driveway and through the bushes.  Thanks Craigslist!

New years was spent with friends at a daytime "open house" packed full of kids.  We were back home and asleep early.

2013 was a memorable year for us and we are grateful for everyone who made it brighter.
