Bennett has arrived!

Curren is now a big brother.   Bennett Reed Davis has arrived!

Bennett was born February 1, at 7:41am and weighed 9 pounds, 5 ounces and was 21 inches long.  He was bright eyed and cried immediately after birth.  Bennett was welcomed by his parents, Curren, and his wonderful grandparents Nancy, Dail, Gary and Linda.

Curren did not know how to react to his Mom holding a new baby at first.  He clung to Nancy and Dail the first day but soon warmed up to his baby brother and wanted to hold him. Curren loved playing and watching cartoons as visitors came to meet Bennett.

After two nights, we were able to check out of the hospital and be at home with Curren.  Nancy stayed with us a week and helped keep our lives somewhat in order.  She made wonderful meals and deserts to keep us smiling.  Carl was able to stay home for a week to bond with Bennett and have a nice visit with his Mom.  My Mother arrived the following week and helped us for three wonderful weeks.  She let me sleep and I was extremely grateful each morning.  She would bring me coffee in bed and play with Curren until I was able to rise...slowly.

We are adjusting to the new pace of things.  Bennett wakes every 2.5 hours or so but I have not dropped dead from lack of sleep yet.  Curren does have his moments of jealousy when I am holding Bennett but each day he accepts the change a bit more.  With that said, he loves to help change Bennett's diaper and rock his chair after giving him a blanket.  The cutest thing is Curren "shushing" Bennett when he cries to calm him.  Dad is pleased that Curren has also learned the same approach to dog noise - "Shhhhh!"

We are ecstatic to have another little boy.  The future will be filled with lots of laughter and love in our home and we feel blessed that we are able to make this journey with our friends and family at our sides.
